Ref: 05.12.1933 Gertrude Fuld Gertrude Fehr, Gertrude Fehr-Fuld , née Fuld (1895 - 1996), was a German photographer. Gertrude Fuld was the daughter of Charlotte Cohen and Ludwig Fuld. Ludwig Fuld was a lawyer and author of numerous legal books and treatises. He also worked as a volunteer in the legal protection office of the Mainz women's work school. Gertrude Fuld trained as a photographer under Eduard Wasow and at the School of Photography in Munich. In 1921 she opened her own studio there and focused in particular on artistic portraiture and theater photography. Her theater photographs of The Threepenny Opera for the Munich Kammerspiele are well known. In Munich she met her husband, the painter Jules Fehr. Both went to Paris in 1933, where Gertrude Fehr opened the photography school Publiphot in 1934 and focused on experimental photography and collage techniques. In 1939, they both moved to Geneva, Switzerland, and in 1940 opened the École Fehr photography school in Lausanne, which five years later merged with the École des Arts et Métiers to form the École de photographie in Vevey on Lake Geneva. There, Gertrude Fehr-Fuld taught portraiture, fashion, advertising, and reportage until 1960. After leaving the photography school, she worked as a freelance photographer, taking portraits of famous artists. She influenced many photographers through her experimental work. Her students included Henriette Grindat, Luc Chessex, Monique Jacot, Jeanloup Sieff, Yvan Dalain, Yves Yersin and Francis Reusser. Dresden decreed that in addition to the few remaining Dresden stamps, the issues of other cities and provinces of the Russian occupation zone in Dresden also had franking value. Mixed frankings of the remaining single values of the Dresden I issue cut or cancelled with single values of the precious issues of Meissen, Glauchau, Löbau, Görlitz or Niesky etc. were therefore not gimmicks, but are valuable covers of the first Saxon city stamps on genuinely used registered covers and interesting contemporary documents for the serious collector.'
