- Princess Letter 48
18th September 1938 1/0 18th September 1938 Sarvar to 27 Queen Square, Bath Dear Madeleine! Many thanks for your letter. All the English girls are gone. Mhairie Irvine had to go home to Scotland. I liked her very well, she was awfully nice. Aileen is in Poland now. She is to stay in a Sacred Heart convent for the whole of next year. But Polish people seem to be very nice, as far as I have heard and so I hope she will be invited somewhere for her holidays. I do feel quite lonely with only Muck to fight. For we fight the whole day long as we have nothing else to do. Baby is still in Switzerland. Her house is not yet ready. The painting of the rooms seems to take an awful long time. I think she will go to Lindau to furniture her house. It is only 8-10 kilometres from there. Papi and Ludwig are out camping in a hut. It is the time for shooting stags. Papi has already shot two this year. Deidi and her family are back in Cannes. Their Grandmother has just died, she was 86 years old and has 10 children still living, and heaps of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A cousin of mine has become engaged and I wonder if we are going to her wedding. She has to go to Abyssinia later on, it seems very far doesn’t it? I have got a beautiful sewing machine for my birthday and I want to sew everything for myself now. It is beautiful weather but very cold. Last year this time we seemed to melt from heat. Everybody is very excited about war. But I do hope Chamberlain is able to prevent it. It would be too awful. Lots of love Contact Brief History to inform us of additional information regarding this page

Featuring various definitive postage stamps (Mi.92, Mi.104 and Mi.108). Ref: 05.07.1943 - 7/90 Schutzpolizei From Wikipedia: The Schutzpolizei des Reiches or the Schupo was the state protection police of Nazi Germany and a branch of the Ordnungspolizei . Schutzpolizei is the German name for a uniformed police force. The Schutzpolizei des Reiches was the uniformed police of most cities and large towns. State police departments were in charge of protection police, Kripo criminal investigation divisions ( Kriminalpolizei ), and administrative police. The state protection police comprised a patrol branch, barracked police, traffic police, water police, mounted police, police communications units, and police aviation. Policemen were required to have previous military service, good physical and mental health, Aryan descent and membership in the Nazi Party. Schloß Schwarzenberg Upon the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1939, the possessions of Prince Adolph of Schwarzenberg were seized by the Nazi authorities. He managed to flee, but his cousin, Heinrich, Duke of Krumlov, was arrested and deported. After World War II, the Czechoslovakian government stated, by law No. 143/1947 from 13th August 1947 (Lex Schwarzenberg) , that the assets of the Schwarzenberg-Hluboká primogeniture passed to the Land of Bohemia. - KLV Lager Lipthal Liptal

Justic (chocolate confectionery wholesaler), in Prague to Sister (? - Schw.) Horuanska, at the KLV-Lager school, Lipthal (Liptál in the Czech Republic). Note: there is at least one other cover (as seen on the internet) that is from Fr. Justic to another KLV-Lager. Ref: 27.03.1943 KLV-Lager, Lipthal Although not addressed on the present envelope, KLV-Lager Lipthal ad the identification prefix Pro/217 From: Stichting Werkgroep Herkenning I am currently preparing a new series of the NTR television program “Verborgen Verleden”. An ancestor I am researching appears on a list of 200 Rotterdam students aged 12-15 years who were eligible for a three-month trip in the summer of 1944 to Böhmen – Mähren [now the Czech Republic) organized by the Dutch People's Service. I'm trying to find out more about how this group fared on their trip to Germany. The story in the family is that he only returned to the Netherlands after the war. The Rotterdam group was part of a transport of 600 children from The Hague and Amsterdam, among others. They left on June 30, 1944 with transport number KI 23. There are accounts of the journey, which was very tiring. The boy in question is housed at KLV Lager Lipthal near Westin, in a school. The daycare is quite messy. They were supposed to go for about three months, but that is approximately the period when the fighting increases and, among other things, Operation Market Garden starts. I can imagine that this group did indeed only return after the war. Note: Westin = should be Wsetin. Now Vsetí, Czech Republic.
