Mi.P314 II Chequerboard obliteration

Postcard (Mi.P314 IIa) with ODP Koblenz 'chequerboard' overprint, sent from Frankfurt a.M. to an address in Darmstadt. Ref: 20.03.1946 - 17/18

The 1945 post-war issues of the OPD Koblenz (Mi.P837 A & Mi.P837 B) were later withdrawn from sale and the postal imprint as well as the official seal strike were covered with chequerboard-like field overprints and sold as standard stationery.

The former postal stationery of the Third Reich was cancelled in a similar way and sold as stationery. They were used either by stamp franking or as cash franking with any 'gebühr bezahlt' hand-stamps. The following cards are known to date: P298, P299, P300, P302 F, P302 A, P303 F, P303 A, P314 II
