American V-Mail message (no envelope) from Corporal Larson to a relative in Chicago. Ref: 20.07.1944
The V-Mail message reads...
Â
Dear Mom,
Just a few lines to let you know that your favorite son is still all right. Here's hoping you too are still well - & happy.
Its a typical English day today - cloudy & foggy - hope it doesn't rain - I don't relish sleeping in a flooded slit trench.
Sure wish I knew what to write about - Got plenty to say, but as you know the censorship is pretty strict, so all I can say is to hell with it!
So sweat heart, till tomorrow night, to you & Mae & ?, good night ladies, good health, pleasant dreams & lots of love & kisses.
From your Boy
Bobby
