Battery 'B' 480th AAA Battalion (stationed at Bushey Hall, Hertfordshire, at the time of writing this letter). Also see list of units stationed within the UK (from April 1944) in Guten Tag. Also see the LP Vol.135 April 2026 Number 1534 which has an article on V-Mail.
The V-Mail message reads...
Dear Mom,
Just a few lines to let you know that your favorite son is still all right. Here's hoping you too are still well - & happy.
Its a typical English day today - cloudy & foggy - hope it doesn't rain - I don't relish sleeping in a flooded slit trench.
Sure wish I knew what to write about - Got plenty to say, but as you know the censorship is pretty strict, so all I can say is to hell with it!
So sweat heart, till tomorrow night, to you & Mae & Lee, good night ladies, good health, pleasant dreams & lots of love & kisses.
From your Boy
Bobby
