Station Command Posts
See 19.09.1944 - 29/86
Station officers (Bhf.Offz. or Haf.Offz.) Station command posts (Bhf.Kdtr.)
They consist solely of military personnel, are subordinate to the transport commands, and are deployed at particularly important railway stations that are heavily occupied by troop or supply transports.
Within the designated station area, the station officers monitor and support cooperation between military units or troops and the Reichsbahn (German National Railway), and, if necessary, reconcile the interests of both parties. In particular, they assist with troop movements, ensure the station's protection against air and ground attacks, and maintain order within the station. Their primary task is to prevent disruptions to train services caused by a lack of cooperation between the troops and the Reichsbahn.
Within their area of responsibility, they have command authority over the troops, but not over the Reichsbahn (German National Railway), air raid protection units, or local defense units. In special cases, especially in areas threatened by the enemy, they may also be given command of parts of the reinforced railway security or guard units.
When railway station officers are deployed to monitor military inland ports, they are called port officers.
The differences between station officers and station commandantries are based on the KStN (German Railway Staff Regulations), but their tasks are the same.
