WEHRKREISKOMMANDO IV

 

Wehrkreis IV (Dresden) was a territorial military administrative unit during the period of the Weimar Republic and later the Nazi German Empire. The military district existed from 1920 to 1945. It was responsible for the military security of the Saxony area and the replacement and training of parts of the Reichswehr and Wehrmacht in this area. Military District IV included three military replacement districts (Dresden, Chemnitz and Leipzig). The headquarters was in Dresden.


At the time of the above letters posting the commander of the Wehrkreis was Viktor von Schwedler (1885-1954), an appointent he had also held in 1938/39.
