Early feldpost Jarecki
Early feldpost Jarecki

Early WWII feldpost postcard (without FPN number) depicting a picture by artist St. Jarecki, titled 'Czarujace Tony' (Enchanting Tones). Ref. 10.09.1939

The postcard above displays an example of a 'tactical number' before the date, in this case '45'. This number has nothing to do with the actual identification number but is the corps or division number. These three-digit numbers were most often identical to the numbers of the divisions in action. In this case it could be XVII Armeekorps 45. Infanterie Division or XX Armeekorps Infanterie Regiment 45. Unsure of how these would be identified. Ref: MFP62/46
