Commercial postcard dated 2nd September 1935, sent from the tobacco dealer Oscar Ganz, Löbderstraße 3, Jena, to Erich Böhm of Eisenach, co-proprietor of the Leipzig commercial agency Heise & Böhm. The printed card advertises the tobacco manufacturers represented by Böhm, notably Gebr. Feibelmann, Zigarren-Fabriken, Mannheim, and Kessing & Thiele, Bünde. Gebr. Feibelmann underwent a major change shortly afterwards: in October 1935 members of the Feibelmann family left the partnership and the business became Hediger & Co., Zigarrenfabriken, vormals Gebr. Feibelmann; surviving Baden-Württemberg state records subsequently place the firm within the Nazi-period Aryanisation files. Kessing & Thiele, one of Germany's largest cigarillo manufacturers, also later appears in documented negotiations concerning the acquisition of a Jewish-owned cigar business during its owners' attempts to emigrate. The card therefore provides useful contemporary commercial evidence of connections within the German tobacco industry during the early National Socialist period. Ref: 02.09.1935 - 37/7
