'Remember our Colonies'

Postcard sent from Gotha to Sonneberg, featuring a patriot 'colonial' poem written by Asta Wegerer (1854-1931). Ref: 20.08.1933

Remember the wonders of our colonies

Once our beautiful domain;

With deep woe we gave them away,

We loved them, we knew their glory!

The longing remains in our hearts

And no time will ever destroy true love;

The true German says: "Auf Wiedersehen'n"

To whom gratitude and honour and a faithful spirit remain
